Logistics

There are multiple boat ramps concentrated in the urban centres at either end of the estuary.

The following are likely the better spots to put in for particular locations, but there are some other locations that you can use too. Refer to the Distance Table and the Interactive Map for additional details. Parking is not an issue in general but it is easier the further you drive from Bongaree or Caloundra.

  • Bongaree Jetty: Lower Pumicestone Passage
  • Banksia Beach: Dux Creek
  • Toorbul: Ningi Creek
  • Meldale: Elimbah Creek
  • Donnybrook: Bullock and Glass Mountain Creeks; Tripcony Bight; Thooloora Island
  • Roys: Long Island and the Narrows; Westaways, Hussey and lower Coochin Creek
  • Coochin Ck: Coochin Creek
  • Jensen Park: Bells Creek and upper Pumicestone Passage
  • Apex Park: Lamerough Canal
  • Leach Park: Golden Beach

Parks and facilities are managed by multiple agencies:

  • The Sunshine Coast Council manages the northern section above Glass Maintain Creek.
  • The Moreton Bay Council manages the southern section.
  • QLD Parks help manage Bribie Island and Pumicestone National Parks, as well as Beerburrum State Forest.

Public transport options require a mix of train and buses to navigate between Bongaree (Bribie Island) and Caloundra (Sunshine Coast).

  • The bus route 640 goes between Bongaree and Caboolture.
  • The train connects Caboolture to Landsborough.
  • The bus route 605 goes between Landsborough and Caloundra.
